Turns out, even Hollywood royalty can’t always get a “yes” from Max Verstappen. The reigning F1 champ reportedly passed on a chance to film a nightclub scene alongside Brad Pitt for the new blockbuster F1, which just hit theaters worldwide.
According to reports, filmmakers pitched a moment where Pitt’s character – veteran driver Sonny Hayes – would share the screen with Verstappen in a buzzing club setting. But the four-time World Champion? He simply said, “No thanks.”
Lights, Camera, Real F1 Action!
The hotly anticipated film F1 blends real-world racing drama with cinematic flair. Pitt stars as the fictional Sonny Hayes, driving for the made-up Apex GP team alongside rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).
What’s cool? The movie filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends. Apex GP even appeared as a fictional 11th team on track during real sessions! Several real F1 drivers make cameos – including Verstappen himself in an intense racing sequence with Pearce.
Verstappen’s Arm’s-Length Approach
While Max agreed to be filmed racing, he’s kept Hollywood at a distance since:
- Skipped the exclusive driver screening in Monaco.
- Missed the glitzy New York premiere (blaming a GT3 test at Spa).
- Admitted in a recent press conference he didn’t even know the film was out: “Is it out? I haven’t seen it on Apple TV… I was on Apple TV yesterday. I haven’t seen it pop up.”
Gasly’s Verdict (and a Playful Jab at Max)
His former teammate Pierre Gasly loved it, though – and gave Max a cheeky reason to tune in:
“They show you winning the race at some point, so you definitely should watch it! I really, really enjoyed it… I’m excited to see what the public thinks.”
For now, it seems Verstappen wasn’t tempted by Tinseltown – not even for a night out with Brad Pitt. But as the film revs up global excitement, even the famously focused Dutchman might just get curious… especially when they show him crossing the finish line first.
